I’ve deliberately left the title to this post as it’s default title – ‘Hello world!’ because, well, I like it.

Why I’ve Got a Website (and Why It Still Matters)
I’’m finally getting on with building a website. Not because it’s trendy, or because someone told me I should (though many have!) but because it feels like the right place for my work to live.
Social media is brilliant for connection, discovery, and conversation. I use it, enjoy it, and it absolutely has its place. But it’s also noisy, fast, and fleeting. Posts disappear down timelines. Algorithms decide what gets seen. Context can get lost.
Everything feels slightly borrowed, like you’re building on rented land.
A website is different. It’s slower, calmer, and intentional.
It’s my space. No! It’s our space.
No algorithm deciding who sees what. No character limits. Just room to explain things, share things, and build a community.
There’s also something reassuring about permanence as well y’know.
A website doesn’t vanish if a platform changes direction or shuts down. It becomes an anchor. A central place we can return to, whether you’ve found me through social media, heard me on the radio, seen my photography, or you’re here through good old simple curiosity.
Is it a good idea in 2026? I think so! I hope so! It costs money this y’know!
Seriously though, yes. I believe it is. Especially now.
When everything is optimised, filtered, and compressed, there’s real value in having a space that’s unapologetically yours. It doesn’t have to replace social media; it complements it.
Social platforms can be the doorway. A website is the home.
Welcome.
Take a load off, and I’ll get the kettle on for us.
